Bought the wrong CoP's. Need info on changes.
So after reading a number of threads on my misfire, I decided to get the Ebay CoPs a lot of guys have tried. What I didn't realise is there are 2 different CoP and boot styles. So Im wondering when this changed, and what were the changes done to the head?
I am also wondering if there is any way to tell if you have a 2 piece plug or a 1 piece from the top. I know they have been changed a few times, just not sure what I'm getting into this time. Truck just rolled 150k.
Thanks for any info and help.

Those cops are for older model f150's I believe.. Pre 04 models..
All plugs are 2 piece except for the champions and brisk plugs.. Stick with auto lite or motorcraft plugs, and use NICKLE anti seize on the plug shank, and a dab on the threads.
The impact method of removal is by far the best insurance your going to have at removing plugs without breakage.. A cordless impact on a hot/warm motor is the way to go.. Try seafoam or injector cleaner for a few tanks before you pull the plugs, it will help remove some of the carbon deposits that jam the shank/grounding strap in the heads.....
Just burp the trigger.. Once it spins, finish removing the plug by twisting the extension by hand.. You just want to break the seat of the plug free with the impact, there's no need to zip the plugs right out. Once you see the socket extension spin, go slow, and finish by hand.. Reinstall by hand only!
Dielectric grease your boots and cop connectors..

Well Hmmm. I will need to do some digging for the vin on the motor. Its a late 2004 build date. I was hoping it would be an easier answer. When I google the CoP DG511 it says its used up to 2008 on the 5.4L.

Just by looking at the boots you can tell they are 2 valve not 3 valve cops..

I've been having good luck myself with the accel coils in that link on my 04..
You may have selected the 04 heritage model when bought them.. The heritage is fords way of selling 03 leftovers in 04 when the new body style switch was made.. When I search for parts I usually start with the year 05 to weed out heritage model (sometimes confusing) selections in my search queries..
FYI:
The TPS, FRPS (fuel rail pressure sensor), vacuum line and front brake line systems are unique to 04 models only.. So an 05 model search will leave you with the wrong parts in these categories.
