Body work estimate....really?
So I popped into the local auto body shop for a quick quote on some paint flaking and sheetmetal rust around my gas cap. Probably the size of a half dollar. While he's checking that out he notices some bubbling right above the rear wheel well on both driver and passenger side. Rusting from the inside out somehow.
Long story short:
Gas cap repair: 675
Gas cap plus fender repair: 2000
Replacing bedsides: 4600
Does that seem a little steep for the repair? It's the first place I've been quoted at but really? Anyone have any similar experiences? Advice?
Not how I wanted to start a Monday.
Thanks in advance.

A new bed is $1000 lightly used (work body conversion places sell them).. Paints about 500 - 1000 That quote is a bit too high.. He's charging you shop rate on hours spent.
A note to all f150 owners: the gas tank area rusts! Nobody's exempt from this... Water pools inside the door and gets under the paint... Get some RTV black silicone and glaze this area with some q tips... If your rusting already: sand the paint down, prime it 3 times, paint it with a q tip, then RTV the entire bottom half of the door... I saw it on every (like 30) f150's I test drove before I bought mine. After this procedure, I've had no paint chipping or rusting issues develop...
