I currently own a leveled 2006 F150. I really want to lift it 6" but I cannot afford the $1500-2000 price tag that goes along with a good quality suspension lift. Are there any draw backs to doing a body lift? I've seen some 3" body lifts that were a lot easier on the wallet. The 2" level along with the 3" body lift would give me 5" of lift which should allow me to fit 35's.

I am thinking the same thing. I don't do much off roading at all. but if your truck is 4x4 you should be able to fit 35's on stock rims. it is tight on the upper control arm and upper ball jount but I have stock rims with 35's with a 2.5 hbs level. but I still want to go higher also haha

I have 20x9 BMF wheels so 35's on a level wouldn't fit. I'd have to lift it one way or another. I'm just not sure how the ride would differ with a body lift.

A body lift really wont change the ride at all since ur not altering the suspension in anyway. . Just a higher center of gravity is rhe only thing that will change. I have a 6 inch suspension with a 3 inch body for around 4 yrs now not a single problem and rides amazingly

That's what I needed to hear, thanks!

Any particular brand I should look into or are they all pretty much the same?

Well the ones with the kit wont hold the weight of a iron cross there the bumpers I have with a 12k winch.. I made my own brackes out of 3/16 steel.the ones in the kit are very flimsy just made to hold the weight of a factoy bumper which doesn't weigh much of anything. . Aftermarket bumpers will take some fab work to work with a bodylift..

A body lift has a couple advantages. It gives you a lot more room in the engine bay so plug changes, Add long tubes, or any other type of work under the hood. And the center of gravity is lower than a suspension lift so street manners are better. And it's not like you give up more ground clearance .

Man I am in the same boat... I need to regear and that plus the 6 inch lift are going to make the wifey unhappy... I have thought about just doing the body lift and upgrading shocks/struts to save some cash.. You can fit 35's with a 2.5 inch level-- thats what I am running now.
