I'm pretty sure you're right. I did a lot of research on this at one point as even went as far as buying and extra cluster to try it on. The problem with the 04-08 is the green film on the backing of the gauge face. You have to pull the face off the cluster and use rubbing alcohol to get the film off. As far as I know that's the only way of getting the colour to change to anything other than green. After pulling extra cluster apart I realized I wasn't interested in trying it on my own truck. I didn't want to deal with trying to get the needles back on in the right spot without breaking them. Hope it works though Silverbullet, I look toward to seeing pics.

Hi.

Actually - a few folks in those links above left the green film in place. Using wide-angled blue LED's will power right though it - green film is relatively transparent to blue light.

You can easily and quickly test this on the single LED replacement in the center console shifter. It comes out a very nice blue using a #194.

This is correct if you read the entire thread he even says he left the green film on

Hi.

#74's for the cluster (9 of them).

#194 is for the center console shift indicator. You have a lot of spares, lol.

If also want to do the center stack and window/door switches the links explain which SMT LEDs you need
