Do a search, but I'm pretty sure I have seen guys get at it behind the glovebox. They cut a rectangle hole out of the box, repair the door, and jb weld the piece of plastic back together.

Looks like new they are around $20-30, hope I can grab one for around $10.
Same issue as well. Speeds 1,2,3 do not work. Only works on setting 4. Where exactly is this resistor located? I was told it could be a bad rheostat....which I believe is merely an adjustable resistor correct?

Behind the glove box. Once you drop glove box, look in the opening its slightly to the right almost level with the bottom of the opening. 2 screws almost like the maf. Has one electric clip attached. Swap and replace takes 5-10 min its a tight space to maneuver a socket i think it was a 7 or 8 mm

I have similar symptons in my 97. Except, it would work for a while (on any speed) and then just stop (on any speed). This sounds sadly like a blower motor problem, but does nyone think this is worth trying replacing the resistor first?

The blower motor is probably going to be beyond me, as I think this may require pulling the dash, which is not something I really want to get into...

Not sure about your problem, but i just wanted to post back and say that my issue was taken care of with a new resistor. I took a gamble and bought one for $11 off ebay, and it has worked great so far.

Hopefully it's manual, I bought this one from amazon with free shipping ----- STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS RU440 {#3F2Z18591AA}
w/ Manual Temperature Control; w/ Manual Temperature Control

I have a pretty standard FX4, no leather, no moonroof, just the basics, so I'm assuming it's all manually controlled by the turn dials, correct?
