Default Blew out the vaccum lines...

On the iwe solenoid that I just replaced. I got a drop or 2 of water out of each side. Would that be enough to freeze up and cause the grinding problem I am having I'm sub freezing weather?? I replaced the solenoid and that didn't fix it. I am hoping this will. What do you think??

If you had water in the lines at the IWE's depending on how long the water was there rust could be a problem. You can test them with a vaccum gun.

it sounds to me like you have a bad iwe, or both. how old is your truck? i had to replace both of mine last year on my 06, and neither one had water in them, they just didnt respond well in the weather we had (high for about 2 weeks running was around 5).

i am confused on your post.... what exactly are you hoping will work, if you replaced the solenoid and that didnt?

if you attach a vacuum pump to each iwe, you will see if they have good seals or not. a brand new iwe will be fully compressed with 5" vacuum. at idle, you should read about 19-20 at the iwe, so there is no question it should be compressed. see what the vacuum pump shows you, it shouldnt leak down much. i think the acceptible drop is about 1" per minute, and more than that and the seals are bad.

they arent too difficult to change out, and can be purchased online fairly cheap.... i think they were about 80.00 each last winter when i did mine.

I was hoping that getting the water out of the lines would solve it...it doesn't make sense to me why it just does it when it is 25 or lower unless the water was freezing. Everything works great when it is warmer than that. The truck is a 2005.
