Default Black Grill Trim

I currently have the chrome trim around my billet grill. My entire truck is black so i was wondering what I could do about it. Should I get the chrome trim painted at a body shop?? Or would is there somewhere I can buy black grill trim. Does the fx4 have body color trim for the grill? Thanks!

I might look into that idea, i think one of my buddies did that on his car. I kinda wanted it to be glossy black though like the body paint.

You can buy a paintable grille surround from ford or ebay and paint to match, surrounds are the same from 04-08 the grille inserts are what changed. Problem with this is the grille inserts are not easily removed, usually the tabs that hold them in the surround are broken off to remove it, however it is possible to remove without breaking the tabs if you are careful and heat each one as to not break it. As for painting the chrome which would be the easiest is not recommended because it is very hard to to paint over the chrome and odds are that it will not hold up and likely chip off. Most shops will suggest you replace it with a paintable one for best results.

yeah i figured the chrome would be difficult to paint. Would buying a Black fx4 grill be a smart option?

Yea it will work. If you like the grille and it's the color you want it will bolt up. Even if you need to change the color a body shop could likely do it without removing the insert. Other wise use caution when removing the inserts and you'll be fine.
