Default Bilstein 5100 W/ 2" Coil spacer

I installed the Bilsteins On their lowest setting and also added a 2" spacer.
I figured I'd have the best of both worlds by having the lift without adding major spring preload. I've been going through sway bar links within a month; they're clunking pretty bad.

I expected a better ride with this set up but they are really harsh. Did I make a mistake by doing this.... should I ditch the spacer and run the highest amount of lift on the shock?

I didn't have any issue with the stock shocks and the coil spacer...maybe its because the bilstein shocks are longer?

Any input?
Thanks.

I would ditch the spacers and use the shocks to level it. Mine have been on for about 5 years and 50,000 miles with no issues other that they don't dampen very well with my 35's. If I was to do it over I would run Rancho's RS9000XL's.

It's been a while, but I don't think the preload on the springs was much more using the higher setting. I think extended the shock more.

With stock size tire and OE wheels it was a major improvement, but when I went with bigger tires and wheels the shocks are not up to par, although still a bazillion times better than stock.

Any other opinions about this?, Am I chowing swaybay links because I added the spacer to a longer shock?

Strange... Are they crap parts? I've been running the 6in bilsteins with a 3in spacer on top for two years now without a problem. And its been all out in some nasty dark muddy woods

What do you mean 6" bilsteins? The sway bar links are moogs. Quiet for the first month.... Then clunk clunk clunk.

I'm running bilstein 5100's set to zero lift with a 2.5 auto spring level spacer with 35's and the ride is awesome.. The AS spacer is offset to cure geometry issues found on many non offset cheap spacer lifts.. Try a different spacer if you don't want the harshness of the pre load lift.. I used my spacers with my bilsteins for this reason..

Not sure why your going through end links.. Maybe you should get an alignment and check on the sway bar bushings, and ball joints at the control arms..

Are you getting any steering wheel vibrations?

I'm running a 2" auto spring spacer with the offset. I replaced upper & lower Balljoints with Raybestos. As well I replaced the sway bar links at the same time. Ride is decent, but links aren't lasting? The links have a lifetime warranty so maybe I should change them and see.

They are six inches taller than stock length. Somthing else is causing them to fail. I hardly ever replace links at work
