Default bigger tires and problems ?

I just purchased a 2007 xlt 4x4 with the 4.6. The truck is all stock, it has crap hankook 235-70-17 tires on it ,that I want to replace. I have a friend that has a set of 285-70-17 bfg At ko,s with less then 100 miles on them,he will sell them to me for $350. Will the 235-70-17 fit my stock rims ? Will I have any rubbing issues ? Would I need a front end alignment ? Would I have any other issues to worry about running the bigger tires ? Thanks for your help.

285/70/17 is roughly a 33" tire like 32.8 I think and I'm pretty sure they'll fit, but just to be safe I'd get a leveling kit to lift up your front end to eliminate the chance of them not fitting right, plus it will make your truck look bad *** and the most you'll spend is $250. If you do install a leveling kit, you will need an alignment afterwards to straighten out your new stance. The last issue I can think you may have is your speedometer may be thrown off a little bit but not too much with 33's, if so, there is a good excuse to get a programmer, which corrects your speedometer and gives you big performance gains.

Yep, they fit. I have them on mine on stock rims. I didn't "HAVE TO" do the leveling kit, (and didn't yet), but it will definitely look better and more "in proportion" when I do.

The amount that the speedometer gets thrown off increases as speed increases. At around town speeds, it's not really a consideration. Might be 5 or so off, at 65 or 70. Haven't ever checked it, but it's close enough for me.

Before I put my 2" Leveling kit on, I had my 285/70/17 Bridgstone revo's on the truck. The Tires will fit just fine with the stock wheels and stock level.
You got a good inch or two gap between the lower plastic bumper and the tire. no trimming necessary.
With a K&N cold air kit, programmer and 3.55 gear, the truck is a little slower, but I dont mind because I didnt buy it for speed.

Have you considered an exhaust or maybe some lower gears ? That would help get that thing rolling a little quicker but more than anything give you more low-end that your probably looking for.

Yea Brub,
My Budget is pretty tight since I got the rims, tires and leveling kit last week. Probably after I get my tax returns. Im gonna deal with the gears when I do another suspension and tire upgrade. Thanks.
