Default Best Transmission Fluid?

Greeting, all of you great f150 people. If you have a truck that calls for Mercon V, Would it be alright to use, say Super S Premium universal transmission fluid? This meets the reguirements for Mercon LV. What are you thoughts? Thanks guys & gals for your advice. ~Gas4Ford~

castrol makes a mercon V. I have only been able to find it at the local auto parts store. Supertech the WalMart brand also makes a mercon V. You could step it up to the other brands like Royal Purple or Amsoil

I've been droppin gthe pan and refilling with castrol mercon V. Good stuff so far, shifts like new.

But if there's Motorcraft fluid readily available, that always gets my vote.

I understand that using Motorcraft branded lubes is fairly safe, however just because its Motorcraft brand does not mean it's the best product; it only means it is good enough to meet their standard and no more. There are huge differences between oils that just meet the minimum specifications and those that exceed the minimum specifications. Keep in mind, Ford only recommends what makes them money.

A car is a car but a Fiesta is not a Mustang. Same goes for lubes.

I ordered Amsoil ATF for for mine. I have to install a new double deep transmission pan and filter when I get home and figured they make a great ATF.

Motorcraft wouldn't have such an awesome following if it was junk. While your comparision makes sense on the internet, I'm not sure its valid when you look at the amount of people using it.

I suppose it all depends on your definition of "best". I've got some of the best trans fluid on the market that has gold flakes and fairy dust I'll sell for 50 bucks a quart.

For the price and performance of MC fluids, it cannot be beat.

Probly a dumb question but i had my tranny fluid flushed 40 thousand km ago and they put valvoline maax life in. I now want to do a few pan drops then a filter change, can i switch to amsoil or do i need to stick with the same oil so i dont mix two different brands?
