Best swap in motor
Whats the best motor to swap into this generation of F150.
I basically got my hands on a F150 and the engine is toast.
I was thinking of V8 perhaps a 350, 5.0, 5.4, 5.8L or maybe a dodge 360 with a TF 727.
I will buy a long block or crate depending on the price. Just need something that can be put in quick. Be probably a days work at the mechanic shop and a grand or two in install cost. Plus the drive shaft.

Whenever a different engine is installed other than what the truck had initially used, the engines powertrain control module (PCM) or engine control module (ECU) plus the wiring harnesses from it to all of the engines sensors will be required.
Lots of work to do a swap like this, so I'd be looking at my own skill sets to determine if its worth it, or if I can do it.
As Summers states, much, much easier to use a reman of a simular engine you have now.

I'm not gonna lie. I laughed when I saw "a day's work" Go with a reman as everyone else has stated. Good luck.

And before you know it, you're walking out of the dealer with a new set of truck keys

If you want to use the truck the way it was intended, go with a re manufactured Ford engine. Everything else is just for weirdness/cool factor. If you actually want the truck to be daily driven, go with what Ford designed for it. And btw, this isn't a 8 hour job....

So your expecting a "mechanic shop" to do a non stock swap in a day? And your concerned about the cost of the engine alone? Your mindset is quit interesting but NOT realistic...
