Bilstens for the front and rear? And which ones for the front? Do I need the whole assembly for the front. Sorry guys new to the whole shock thing. My truck just rides like a tractor so I wanna get some ride comfort back. It's either full lift or new shocks.

I put the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks on the front and set them at the top position which gave me a 2" lift.
I put the 5100 shocks on the rear, but they are not adjustable - just replacements.
The ride is very smooth for still being a truck.
You do not need to replace the whole front assembly unless your front coil springs are worn out. I had my front end done by a local shop for $150 and that included re aligning the front suspension.
Rear shocks I did in the driveway in 20 minutes and didnt need to raise the truck at all. Just unbolted the old ones and installed the new ones.

I'm in the same boat as the OP .. heard a lot of people recommend bilsteins. If a guy already has a 2.5" level in, will the 5100s still work? Just set them to stock or can you add another .5" to them or how does that work?

I'm running my 5100's set to zero lift with a 2.5" level spacer.. Worked perfect.. I'm thinking of adding some hard rubber or urethane pads to the metal on metal contact points of the spacer, coil retainer, and frame mounts for a hair more lift and quietness.. The spacer does seem to make more clickity clunkity noises then just the shocks. But it does ride smooth..
