I just had to change the motor on my 06 but I took it to a local shop and he was able to find me a motor online for 2600 with 90000 and 6 month warranty and he put it in for 650. U might wanna look into going that route it's a lot cheaper.

I got an 05 with the 5.4 in it with 166k on it. She's got the diesel rattle at low RPM. Personally I was interested in the Jasper reman they sell them with a slight "tune" or "stage 1" as it were. Curious if anyone has tried those and their thoughts.

I paid $2200 for an extended warranty from the dealer when I bought my 08. Had the truck 14 days before the engine blew. $9500 was the total repair bill. $0 out of pocket from me, since the dealer covered the $100 deductible.

My dealership was going to use a Jasper engine, but the warranty company insisted on a Ford motor.

9500$ FOR A complete reman installed seems high. I was thinking 5k tops for a motor 4k for labor seems insane

The previous owner had a new Ford engine put in, and the total cost with labor was $6,789. That included a warranty. If I needed a new engine now I would get rid of the truck.

Do not get an ATK/Spartan/Surefire engine. That's all I can say.

Warranty is important to some, less important to me. Take an honest look at the stipulations/wording of the warranty, sometimes they aren't all they're cracked up to be. A lot of time, warranties are just a sales tactic and a source of major stress when you have an issue.

Other times you hit the jackpot.
