Bent axle flange and snapped off rear axle!
I slid into the ditch the other night and hit a culvert trench and snapped my driver side axle shaft off flush with the axle flange. The axle flange is also bent. Am I gonna need to replace the whole axle assembly or could the flange be straightened and a new axle shaft remedy the situation? Not sure where to go from here...

Truck's at the shop so I haven't taken any...just imagine hitting a concrete curb very hard and the wheel is at a 45 degree angle. I believe the two bolts at the top of the flange snapped...but the bottom ones held and that's where the flange is bent

On the rear the flange with the lug studs is a one piece shaft that goes to the diff in the center.
Seeing how that is one piece of solid steel. I would be more worried about the axle tube being bent or something else on the axle tube bent or broke.
I the shaft is bent and that is it. It is a easy fix. you can get a new shaft at a junkyard and do it yourself. I would also replace the wheel bearing and seal
Had to replace one because of a leaky pinion seal, killed the wheel bearing shaft and drum

The big question is : is the bend limited to the flange itself or is the end of the tube tweaked as well? I would be tempted to get the axle code (found on the sticker in the door jamb ) and go junk yard hopping to see if you can find a decent replacement.

I was also worried about the axle tube being bent, haven't heard from the shop yet but if worse comes to worse I'll have to get a new axle assembly. I was just more curious about the bent flange. The tube seemed to be okay...and I know replacing an axle shaft isn't a huge deal...just was wondering how they repair a bad flange if possible.

I'm with the rest. I had to pick up a new rear end for my ranger. Found one at a local junkyard, 55,000 miles, 4:10 gears, for $550.
How is the rest of the truck? I would think that a sideways hit like that would have bent other things like the leafs, or u-bolts.
