Default Tire and Wheel Fitment ?

Yea I know... beating a dead horse here but there are conflicting statements in the Tire and Wheel Fitment guide for 04-08 Sticky Post.

The first post says:

Using aftermarket wheels you can run 35s on a 4WD if the wheels follow these guidelines:
-For an 8" wide wheel the backspacing is 5.5 inches.
-For and 8.5" wide wheel the backspacing needed is 5-6 inches.
-For an 9" wide wheel the backspacing is 4.5-5.5 inches.

The second post poses a question to the author about 18x9s with 5" BS. The author tells him they won't fit without cutting. Am I missing something here? Those specs fall in the 9" wide backspacing threshold that were posted in the first post.

All this to ask a simple question before I order my wheels. Can I run 18x9s with 4.75 BS on 35x12.50x18s with a 2.5" level? Does anyone have pictures?

Again, I realize this has been beat to death but it is a lot of money to order over the internet and figure out that they don't fit.. restocking fees, etc. Any help will be appreciated.

If you run a 18x9 wheel with 4.75 BS with a 35x12.5 tire you will more then likely rub on the lower wheelwells when making hard turn's. Trimming and banging in the wheelwell liner's may help, it depend's how bad you want to them to fit. Also any rough offroading will make them rub too. I find a 34" tire is a better fit on this size wheel to give more clearance in the front where the rubbing takes place. The ideal aftermarket wheel is a 8" wide with stock 5 1/2 inches of BS, this applies to 17 and 18 inch diameter wheels. This put's the wheel and tire assy. more inside the front wheelwell and gives more room to clear the wheelwell liner's when turning.

This is when I had 35's on 17x9 with 5 inches of BS that rubbed when turning even after trimming. Lower pic is the same tires on 17x8 wheels with 5 1/2 inches of BS and had no rubbing in the front. Big difference with different spec wheels.

Thanks much for the reply. I was going to PM you PawPaw. I have read that you the man to see about fitment. It seems a lot of guys are running 18" XD rims on 35s with a level. Are these not 18x9s? The only reason I was wanting aftermarket rims was to fit the 35x12.50x18s. I don't see too many 18" wheels with 8" width.
