I havn't had any problems with mine though and I have owned it for almost 2 years but my truck has about 18,000 on a new motor because the old one gernaded and had to be replaced before I purchased it. The 5.4's can be reliable though and many people have gotten 200,000 trouble free miles out of them, they just seem too be more hit or miss. If I were you I would read up on cam phaser noise and listen to some bad motors before you buy so you know what to listen for when you look at the trucks. The best years were 2007-2008 in this body style with 2004 being the worst of them all. Also ask when the spark plugs have been changed last and if they have no clue make them change them before you buy because that is quite the project to accomplish if they start breaking. If you don't know what I am talking about do some research on that too.

Also to put the price in perspective I bought mine for $13,500 but it is a FX4 with leather seats, center console, sun roof, pretty much everything but heated seats. The ones you are looking at are xlt trucks with minor options which makes them less appealing when trying to sell and they are asking more money.

Not saying you shouldn't by a 5.4 just want to make sure you are getting one that has been taken good care of! I love my truck and for the money it has been great so far and I plan on keeping it for a long time! When/if you get one post up some pictures and future mods for it!
