I can't agree more with the others. We've seen so many posts on here about rebuilt alternators not working. I don't think it's the rebuild that's the issue, it's the smart alternator circuitry. I don't think it's easy for the shops to test that as they're PCM controlled. I know the cost is higher but it'll probably save you a lot of headaches.

Think of it in simple terms...the original MOTORCRAFT alternator got you this far before it failed. Use the same for an additional several years of trouble free service.

I've always decided that if I had to replace the alternator on mine, that's the one of those parts that I would for sure buy the Motorcraft part. It's probably more expensive but for me the hassles of taking an aftermarket one out, returning it, warrantying it, etc is not worth it to me. That's just my thoughts.
I had to change my rear ABS sensor the other day though and there wasn't a chance I was paying double for the Motorcraft one.
