FX2 in UK savage winter 3'' snow??
Could the team please advise on rear wheel drive truck usage in snow?
In the UK we get 3 inches of snow for a week once a year (maybe) and it brings the county to a standstill!
I'm due to go away for the weekend with the forecast of snow on Friday and Saturday....
How bad/good will she go?
I'm planning to stick 300 kg/650lbs of sand in the back over the rear axle.
What do we reckon as I'm worried about looking like a right **** stuck in my American truck whilst being passed by rep mobiles!
Thanks

I think you will be fine with the 650lb over the rear axel. Just be easy on and gas a apply the brakes gently and you will be in good shape. Watch out for everyone else driving around. That's my biggest concern when I'm out driving. Is making sure no one around me is driving stupid. You could also drop your tire psi it gain a little more traction if your really concerned about traction.
Have a safe trip and I hope all goes well.

got about 3' of snow december 27 in montreal.
Used my FX2 on the 29 whitout any issue.
Drive 100km on hard packed snow in the country side and no issue either
3'' a year...I woudn't even bother having winter tire.
weight in the back is totally useless IMO

^ This.
In fact, it can lead to more complications. With extra ("non-essential") weight in the back, arguably WHEN the rear wheels go sideways, they'll do so faster/harder.
and this - leave the lead boots at home before heading out!

I think you will be just fine. we had a freak storm pop up out of no where about a month ago and it dumped 3" or so in a few hours. I was caught at work without any weight in the bed. 2012 reg cab short bed 2wd 5.0 open rear. it did just fine, you just have to be willing to let it spin the tires some times. most people feel the vehicle start to spin the tires and freak out. between turning the trac control off and the factory electric antispin brakes, it did fantatstic in the snow. it definitely was not as sure footed at a 4x4, but for a few inches of snow I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks fellas!
The sand is in the back already, might take half of it out to have a foot in both camps...
F150's attract all sorts of comments in the UK from the good 'cool truck' to bad 'who on earth would drive that around'.
Wanted to make sure it wouldn't get stuck ridiculously easily and me become the afternoon's entertainment for the more negative UK residents!
Looking forward now to the 60 mile trip to the beach.
