Default Bad spark plug decision!!!

Well I decided to take my truck to ford this morning to get the spark plugs done. Yeah should of took the weekend and did it by myself. They broke 4 out of 8 plugs and grand total was 672.00 kinda upset sense I barely hit 80k miles didn't expect them to break that many, everyone with a 5.4 3v buy the tool and do it yourself will save a lot of money in the long run

Did they call you before they extracted the broken plugs? They should have, and then you could have said no and fixed it yourself.

x3... If they didn't tell you ahead of time, I would have talked to the service manager... In fact, I still would- that is just plain robbery...Before I joined here I was saving up to have the plugs changed at the dealer- but after reading everyone's advice on doing it myself, I have complete confidence that I can do it- and save a TON of money.... Sorry this had to happen, but at least you can be a testimonial as to why a little research can go a long way!

did i miss something in the story? did YOU do something causing them to break?
It would be a cold day in hell before I paid some garage for their eff up.

ahh boohoo it took you extra time and money to fix it? good you shouldnt have broken them in the first place.

if your going to make a snide remark at least make it an intelligent one...i know about the plugs breaking genius but ill let it slide and assume that its early and you havent had your coffee yet...

my question is why did the dealership break the plugs and he had to pay for them? when was the last time a garage messed something up and you paid for their mess up?

Dude it's a known common problem and when shop's agree to do the plugs they quote a breakage cost for each plug.... I thought you didn't know about the 2 piece plug breaking during removal...no snide remark

It sucks when you just want a repair done right and they stick it to ya. Ford really did screw us with this design. Glad its only a one time thing.

This is one of those items that dyno testing the engine could not show up. It happened over some years.

I think it would be nice if ford had a set resonable rate to do them, and if something screws up bad, they eat the extra time.
