Default back up camera question

Has anyone installed a backup camera? wondering if you run power from the lights or you run one up the whole truck? i'm new to this so have no idea. Oh and if you know of a good camera let me know there are ton of them on ebay for 20 bucks and up but dont know if they are junk or not.

i ran my positive and negative and just tied it in to the back of the dvd player, u'll have to run an rca up there anyway so might as well just take the positive and negative to the dash too

I ran mine all the way to the center console and tapped in behind the radio. Much of what's on ebay is C**P. Keep in mind you get what you pay for - I bought a combined license plate camera and 7" monitor off ebay but paid $220 for it. Works great. I still have the camera but I've got the monitor on sale on ebay now - I updated my radio HU to a Kenwood in-dash Nav/DVD unit so monitor is no longer needed. If you're interested here's the item # 110360644678. I did a ton of research and decided it was best to spend the bucks to get quality.

Here's a current ebay item # of the camera I got with my kit - 260362490938. This seller was great to work with. I originally bought the kit with the rear view mirror monitor and when it arrived I found I didn't like the way it fit. He exchanged it for the 7" one I'm now selling without question. I highly reccommend this guy. You'll note his camera connections are not RCAs but professional video connectors.

Good luck!
