Someone else told me this, but at the same time I heard from just as many guys that said that using carb cleaner won't harm anything at all, oh well it is what it is. I'm sure if you stay on top of it and clean it on a somewhat regular basis it won't make a single difference

There is throttle body cleaner that says "safe for coated throttle bodys", that's what you are supposed to use.

My 04 feels sluggish so I tried the:

key on, slowly press the gas pedal to the floor and quickly let off, turn key off.
repeat this 3 times.

And I got no change? Am I doing something wrong or does that mean that mine is as good as it gets? I have not taken it apart yet to see if it needs cleaning like OP but I do have 140k miles

Haha there ya go! Just make sure you take it off of the truck. You don't want all that garbage getting in there. Only tool you need is a 10mm wrench or deep socket

"Fuel Filter and Plugs" ..... I have no idea

I am the 5th Owner and just bought it last week with 140k miles. It runs fine with no misses .... it just seems weak and is getting like 7 city and 11 mpg hwy

I'd probably start with changing all the fluids then plugs, fuel and air filters, clean the throttle body, and mass air sensor and then see where its at. You can never trust the previous owner took care of all the maintenance. Most just change the oil (if ur lucky) and put gas in it

Oh yeah don't forget to grease the slip yoke.

Go ahead and order a replacement if U ran Carb cleaner down it. It eats out the seals and damages the electronics attached. U can't predict when the throttle body is now gonna shut U down, but shut U down it does.
