Default Autometer Transmission Temp Sender for 4R75E

I'm finally getting around to installing my Autometer Phantom tranny temp gauge into my truck. Before I start, I need a little help from others that have installed an electric gauge sender into the transmission test port. I've come across a few threads that indicated the sender that comes with the gauge (AUM 2258) might be too long, and that I should go with the shorter sender (AUM 2259). Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is the 2258 too long, or is the an odd issue that varies between transmissions? If I need to order the short one, I will. I was hoping that the long one would work so that I could do the install tonight. Tell me what your experience has been. Thanks.

Mine was like a good 1.5 inches long... Just stick it in there, Get it snug, then a quarter to half a turn tight, then walk away, mine didn't thread all the way in, as long as it doesn't leak fluid you should be good. Just don't overtighten cast aluminum...

The longer AUM2258 fit my test port just fine. Didn't bottom out, and snugged up just fine. Temp is reading normal thus far.
