I think there's a transmission code number on the drivers side door jamb decal/sticker. If I'm wrong, then jot down your VIN number, call the local Ford parts department and ask them to give you the transmission type you have; they can gain your "build sheet" information from your VIN.

Try this: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

Or this might work, but I think the some of the later transmission codes might be missing.

  1. Exterior Paint Code
  2. Region Code (not listed)
  3. Domestic Special Order Code (not listed)
  4. Wheelbase Code
  5. Brake Code
  6. Interior Trim Code
  7. Tape/Paint Pinstripe Code
  8. Radio Code
  9. Axle Code
  10. Transmission Code
  11. Spring Code
Transmission Codes:
U – Automatic 4R70W (F-150, F-250)
E – Automatic E4OD (F-150, F-250)
M – 5 speed manuaoverdrive (F-150, F-250, Ranger)
D – Automatic 5 speed (Ranger)
T – Automatic 4 speed (Ranger)
