Default Ashtray wood grain face removal

I'm taking the bezel off to get rid of the wood grain look inside the cab. I'm attempting to do a vinyl wrap on the radio bezel and the ashtray door. Everything is out but I can't get the dang door off. I've googled, bingd, yahood and searched every f150 forum today and all I found was brief mentions of taking it off to do exactly what I want to. Any help out with this?

Once the radio bezel is removed, you should see two 8mm bolts holding the ash tray in. Once you've unbolted it, I think you have to pull up on it slightly as it sits in grooves.

Ohh okay I gotcha. I'm not sure, it seems like it would be molded in with/plastic riveted to the tray?

And I tried to respond to you PM but your box is full. Thanks, will do. I plant on repurposing everything, but if I find something to use as replacement I will let you know.

Someone said they got it off, but I can't find the clips they said released it. Apparently the cover comes and the chrome "handle" comes off which will make it easier to put vinyl on

I'm trying to do the same thing right now. Did anyone find a way to take off the ash tray face plate?
