Hey, I have a 2004 F150 Fx4. . . 5.4L and i have this low knocking noise in the right front portion of the engine. I have sorced the problem to be the camphaser and it only happens after the engine has warmed up. Can anyone tell me why this happens ?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have looked, pulled, pried and to hold back from breaking the thing off, I don't know what to do. I cant see ANY screws, ANY bolts, ANY snaps or anything else other than the tilt off trey, I don't know what to do. Dino mite? In my eyes, its not as simple as you are making it sound? Maybe i'm missing something.....
As an "outsider" reading this thread, it is obvious that all that are posting answers are making interior package assumptions. For example, my simple 2005 STX does not have a full center console (I have a column shift), therefore in the lower center of my dash, I have the pop out ash tray/cup holder setup.

I'll assume that the floor shift consoles have a different arrangement for cupholders and/or ashtrays. To the original poster, if you could mention the interior package and truck model you have, this may clear it all up.
