Thought I got mine from Rock Auto but Im pretty sure it was tasca Ford. Yep, 2 ford dealers near me don't even come close to a Ford dealer online. go figure

Can't find my receipt but pretty sure it was tasca ford online or something like it. My 2 local ford dealers never come close in price to anything online even oem parts

I understand how skeptical everyone is about non-OEM replacement parts....but I posted this thread to see if people have had and issues with Dorman VCT solenoids, and if they have had issues....what were the problems....the VCT solenoids will be at my house today. So if anyone has any info now is the time to chime in. Thank you MHOWELL34 for giving an accurate answer

I'll only use non-Motorcraft or equivalent-quality parts when the part is "not critical to the life, usability, and overall value of the truck." That's my personal threshold for everything except fluids (I use brands other than Motorcraft for oil, but this isn't another oil thread). So I have Dorman parts for things like window switches and some other minor things, then for my exhaust headers and some other parts I either get only Motorcraft or other comparable brand. Dorman is the Dollar Tree of parts. I can't take a gamble on which parts are going to be winners and which ones wouldn't have made the cut.

I DO NOT trust anything made by Dorman except their door handles. They make junk FPDM's, junk phasers, and I do not expect their VCT's to be any better. Just not worth the risk - hell, I'd pay extra to Avoid their crap.

BTW - it would be a real prudent time to remove & inspect / clean / desludge / lube the VCT solenoid valve bodies ( the component the solenoid inserts into).

What is the best way to "desludge" the solenoid valve bodies?

I agree but based on various reviews i've read, no one has had issues with these solenoids save for a few....besides that, how are your dorman manifolds holding up?

Kreen... but if they're already sludged up you might as well just replace them, they're cheap and not hard

Headers aren't Dorman, they're Gibson (read my signature)

My mistake, I misread your earlier post. Where can you get the replacement housing's for the VCT solenoids?
