did you guys do a break in period when you changed gears? i have read and know the procedure but figured i would ask.

my question is, could i use 6 month old gear oil for the break in period? would hate to spend $50 on oil for 500 miles and then another $50 to dump and refill...

thoughts?

Spend the money on new oil. Your already dropping major coin into getting gears, so why cheap out now.
