HORRIBLE PHOTO!!! So sorry but this is showing what i ran this morning.. Testing this theory of RPM. Proved i have 3:73 and spot on what the graph above is suggesting. i have a math buddy here at work and waiting to here what he has to say about me throwing him some numbers to see what i would be averaging mph/mpg based on this information... also want to point out the engine loan in these photos...

20%+ difference with OD on and off.. also want to point out that i usually sit at red lights and see a solid 18%-20% engine load with ac on and brake pressed and in gear. idle drops to 16% ish... wonder how much better it would be with an E Fan...??

OD on, showing 1541(ish)rpm, 14pmg and 65mph

OD off, showing 2207rpm, 12-13mpg and 65mph

If you do like these guys suggest and go with 4.88's with those 37's. I am confident that you won't be hating life anymore and will be in love with your truck all over again and will be an extremely happy camper. That's all I am saying

I call power hungry performance today for tuning for my programmer. After a long discussion they suggested I go to 4:11... why would they give me such a drastic change in the gear ratio. I'm with you guys 456 Or 488 is the way to go

guys i am still curious to my question above. i am with you guys and wanting to go 456 or 488.. probably 488 if i keep the 37's which i probably will...

next question is "full master rebuild kit" or "minor rebuild kit?" cost is about double from what i see online and not too sure if i need any at all. i am not a gear guy. i have 105k on the truck. . .

I didn't go with a rebuild kit my ford mechanic just used everything that was there except for new fluid and I think a new crush sleeve from autozone but other than that it was all reused and I've had no problems at all with them

How my miles did you have on the truck? I think 105k miles would be a good idea but then again if I was to never regear I would not think to change the internals you know?

I'm on 33's with 3.73's and looking to step up to 35's. i mostly drive in town but i do travel to Huntsville AL and down to my home town Lakeland FL (near Orlando) to visit family. I do tow about 6,000Lbs car & trailer a few times a year to race just as far ( bout 6-8 hrs one way. I do 4 wheel from time to time and hunt in the winter. This truck is my DD too. The old school thought is you gear down .1 for every 1 inch taller tire. That's would be 3.93..... So i was just gonna run 4.10's to help make up for the added weight of the tires. But i see everyone here is atleast running 4.56's...... What kind of mpg are you guys seeing with 35's and 4.56's.

I've always heard that it's best to run oem or FRPP gears.
