Default Anyone get rid of alternator whine with rebuild?

I have the notorious alternator noise. Mine is the cold weather feedback noise that comes on around 2000 rpms and 1400rpms. I read a bunch of threads and some guys put a new alternator in and it cured it, others the thread never went anywhere. So my question is anyone get theirs rebuilt and it fixed it? Everything works as it should just now that it's cold its starting again. Thanks

I had the same issue with my factory alt. I replaced it with a non-Motorcraft alt from NAPA and it has run perfectly for 4 years despite the doom and gloom some folks on here will have you believe.

I got a TYB (I think that's the brand) brand new (not a rebuild) for dirt cheap. Fixed the noise and no issue after 4 years now.

Well I just bit the bullet and threw a carquest reman in yesterday. Pretty easy install besides the mess I made with coolant:-). Now we'll see if it got rid of the noise once it gets really cold again.

Just wanted to update with my alternator. I wanted to wait till we had some really cold days and the last couple of weeks have had a bunch of below zero days. Good news is the feedback whine is gone. So the alternator definitely had some issue. Again this wasnt the early morning squeal when starting, it was a feedback noise at around 2000 rpms only when it was about 20 degrees or colder. So if anyone has same issue I would just put in a new alternator.

You never actually said what you did. Did you replace it? If so, with what?
