Default anyone else's truck have a diesel sounding idle?

So my truck has a low, rumbly idle... Like a quiet diesel... Does anyone else have this. (I kinda like it)

Yes mine yours and many other 04 and 05s. Popular theories are bad cam phasers or problem with exhaust manifold. If yours is like everyone else's the bulk of your noise is audible through the pass anger side wheel well. I've had mine making noise for over 40k miles that I know of with no problem. Some have gone for over 100k and others have had problems. Some have had their phasers replaced only to have the noise return after a couple of months and others claim success after phaser change. Wish I could be of help but opinions concerning this matter are all over the place.

Mine has done it since the day I owned it but mine isn't a v8 so rules out the cam phasers. I like it tho

I'd like the diesel tick if it came with the sound of a turbo spooling to go with it.... I also wouldn't mind not needing spark plugs either..

The increased torque and horse wouldn't hurt

5w-30 royal purple has quieted down my diesel tick enough to the point where barley hear it anymore. Plus my truck hasn't consumed a drop of oil in over 4,000 miles.
I swear it's the 5w-20 that causes the tick in the first place... The VCT system biggest design flaws are the roll pins holding the reluctor ring to the phaser and those proportioning valves feeding the timing chain tensioners... The phasers got better pins to hold the reluctor ring on in the revision and the 5w-20 oil film ruptures too early causing higher heat, pressure, loss of lubrication and sludge from not being able to carry debris in its film back to the oil filter..... After I tune up my timing system, It's 5w-30 or higher for the rest of this motors life....5w-20 is the linchpin as far as I'm concerned.

I considered that.... But it's a tight fit for a diesel under the hood, which means a lot of fabrication....
I might do it one day if I get a wrecked donor truck with a good tranny, motor, PCM, transfer case and axels.
