Default Anyone disconnected their EGR?

Hey all new to the forum, thinking about doing some heavy work to my '06. My first question is has any one disconnected their EGR (Exhaust Gas Recurculation) Unit? The unit takes a some of the exhaust gas and dumps it back into the cylinders to assist with emmisions. I recently moved to Florida from AZ and they do not have emmissions testing here. So shortly away go the "cats" and I am thinking about shuting down the EGR. I think it is as simple as a cannon plug disconnect. I know my check engine lighte will illuminate but I will address that later. Thanks for the help.

your egr only works when your cruising and it also helps with fuel mileage. when your under WOT it closes and doesn't effect your power at all. so its a waste of time and that unsitely cchecck engine light is a pain in the butt if you ask me for no power gain at all
