Default part # for the new vacuum control solenoid

part # CX2117. that is the new vacuum control solenoid "with the shield around it". i've had that same problem with the grinding in the front and in 2 wheel drive, it feels like it is in 4. i took it to the dealership thursday . they replaced the 2 front hubs and an actuator(spelling?). picked it up friday and on the way to work it did the same thing as before the repairs. i took a look and i had the old vacuum control solenoid with the loose round cap on the top. i'm taking it back in monday to have those retards switch it out. to bad i already paid $105 for a deductable.

Isn't it ridiculous how you have to do so much work just to get it done right? Every single thing I've had done on this truck at the dealer was done wrong or not at all even though I was charged for it. I don't understand how Ford has repeat buyers of new vehicles. I always bought used ones and worked on them myself. I just don't have time now, but I'm thinking about getting a lift just so that I can flip the bird to mechanics for good. With a lift I can do the work in no time that takes me forever without one.

As usual, my dealer, the complete and total ripoff, wants $57 for the new part. I'll have to go out of town to find one I guess.

Here here, that's why these forums are so valuable. I am out of warranty and the dealer can rape me every time I go. My dealer replaced this on my '06 and never tightened one side or put the hoses back in their cradle. It's a shame that you are paying for the best of the best and get just about what any local garage can give you.

Thanks for the heads up JT
I stopped by my dealer on the way home from work and picked up the revised solenoid assembly. I asked if was true that the replacement part was cheaper than the original because Ford felt bad and he laughed and said probably and proceeded to sell it to me for $20.00

The dealership replaced the vacuum control solenoid ($27) for free and this is the first time i have had no noise coming from the front end. I'm glad they wasted time and money replacing both hubs and the actuators ($750 job) when it was just this cheap *** part. I guess that is carma for not telling people about the problem.

glad to help, it 's crazy how many people have had this problem and ended up spending lots of money when it could just be a 20$ part

Default ford dealerships

it is funny that they made all those repairs and didn't fix the problem, and i went onto a forum and told them what needed to be changed out by what other people have been saying. Brilliant!!!

The dealer changed my hubs and solenoid out a years and a half ago. I see they put the solenoid with the cover on it, but my truck just started making the humming sound in the front end again. It goes away after I put it in 4WD and shift it back into 2WD. Last time I was under waranty and this time I'm not. This time just like the last, at first its so sporadic and they didn't believe me until it was a nasty grinding noice and I lost my 4WD all together. Hopefully its just my solenoid, praying its not my hubs!!!
