Anybody using the bed of their truck to haul their motorcycle?
I'm trying to figure out the dimensions fo the bed of my truck and wanted to know if anybody was using their truck bed to haul their bike instead of a trailer. I got a supercrew short bed and I wanted to know if and how well it would fit.

What kind of bike is it?? Just measure the bike. You said you have a shortbed so it's 5.5 feet. If the bike is shorter or the same length it will fit. You can also ride leave the tailgate down which will add another foot or foot and a half. Just be careful when loading and unloading not to mess up the ferrings.

it's a small ninja 250r... just wondering who else used the bed and how well the bike fit. I'm not sure how much the tailgate would hold but i know the bikes not any heavier than 500 lb wet.
~I promise i'm not this lazy... If I were near my truck i'd just go look, but i'm still three months out from coming home from deployment and i'm trying to get things arranged for when i come home.

hmm... I guess as long as my tie downs are secure then there shouldn't be a problem with having the back tire sitting on the tail gate, right?

If you're worried about the rear tire being close to the tail end of your tail gate, buy one of those "flip down" bar gate gizmos (I don't recall what the official name is). Ford (and other vendors) have them in their accessorys catalogs.

You're not going to break the tailgate with the back tire of a bike sitting on it. It might break on a cheby but not on our F150s. You'll be fine putting the bike in the bed but as long as you secure it you'll be ok.

cool. Yeah i got a bed extender, but that's definitely not going stop the bike from rolling out if by chance it got loose. the bed extender's not as sturdy as it looks.
