I thought the failsafe was to engage 4x4 if iwe solenoid failed or a vacuum leak? Will unplugging the iwe on the firewall bypass this? I ask because my iwe failed. Now my hubs are pulled halfway in. This of course is not enough and it is now stuck halfway in 4x4. 4x4 works until the system is strained then the front wheels strip out. Im going to replace both actuators and the solenoid but dont have time right now. Will unplugging the iwe shut down the system or leave 4x4 engaged? Im sick of the drag in 4x4 and the damn grinding noise. Im planning on changing it all in about 3 weeks when I get back but need to drive about 150 miles this weekend and would love to disengage the front end.

the IWE uses the vaccum to pull the hubs OUT of 4x4, so if you have the solenoid unplugged youll be in 4x4 all the time minus the transfer case unless you switch it over to it, when you turn your truck off and wait a few minutes you can tell its locked in by spinning the wheel as it turns the CV too
