Default Removing trailer hitch

I have a body lift on my 2004 F-150...3" body lift. I do not tow anything and would like to remove it for the aesthetics. How do I go about doing this?

Go underneath the truck and unbolt it.

"I do not tow anything"
That is right now, you never know when you may have to.
life changes, the lift kit is no issue you can get a longer drop for the ball so the trailer will be level.

You could always put in the hitch a chrome step with break light in it.

I just saw one of those and I loved it! Had LED brake lights and everything. Not too tempted to get it though, worried someone might steal it.

If it is the same as the factory hitch on my 2008 XLT, then it is part of the bumper assembly and you CANNOT "go underneath the truck and unbolt it", unless of course you also do not want a rear bumper. You will need to get a replacement bumper. I assume that you might find one at a junk yard or maybe someone who did not get a factory tow package would trade their plain old bumper for your hitch/bumper combo.

that is what I was talking about, no worries about someone taking it, you can get a trailer hitch lock for about $10. it replaces the pin that holds it in and has a little lock on the other side.

I have a very nice stainless steel hitch on my truck that I leave on all the time. I put a lock on it and no worries. When I buy mine I get the set one for the trailer and one for the truck, it is more but one key unlocks both. I always lock my trailer when it is on the truck this way it is secured and don't have to worry about the trailer uncoupling or anyone tampering with it.

Do Advance Auto or Autozone sell these locks?
