Post Another Tire and Axle Question

I am about to buy new tires, and am considering a 295/70 R18 Nitto Trail Grappler. I am currently running 275/65 r18's. I have read the tire sticky so I am sure it will fit. I pull a 28' travel trailer about once a month, the trailer is 5100# without cargo. I have no problems pulling the trailer with my current setup but really like the look of the bigger tire. My axle code on the door jamb is 26(i don tknow what that means). Do you guys think I will have any problem with the bigger tires?

BTW my truck is a 06 Screw 4wd 5.4l.

that tire comes in over 34 inches, so without leveling or lifting, you are going to have problems, and in addition since that tire is 2.2 inches larger, you are going to effectively change your gear ratio 7% in the loss of power direction, speedo inaccuracy, etc.

If you had 3.55 gears it would make the truck perform like it had 3.30's, not a great combo for towing IMHO

Sorry i forgot to mention that i will be putting a 2 1/2 inch leveling kit next week. I have tried to figure out what kind of rear end I have buy entering the vin # online but it doesnt show. Does anyone know what the axle code 26 means?

3.73 non limited slip, will effectively be 3.47 , it will not set any speed records

Alright thanks for the info. I usually don't go more than 300 miles (round trip) with the camper, but we will be going 1000 in April. I am not looking to break any speed records, i just dont want to mess up the truck. Do you think it will harm it going on an occasional weekend trip, and once a year a long distance?

Ordered the 2 1/2" leveling kit tonight. Just wondered if anyone else is pulling a travel trailer (or something of similar weight), with a setup similar to what I will have before I order these tires next week. Thanks in advance for your help!
