Default Another engine dies while coming to a stop

Well it looks like it is my turn. I have a 05 f150 4.6 xlt with 102,000 miles. Over the last month the truck has died on me 4 times while coming to a stop or slowing for a turn. I cleaned the throttle body, MAF sensor, checked all vacuum hoses and couldn't find anything. I took it into the shop yesterday because The last time it happened with my kids in the truck. After about 8 hours of being at the ford dealer they called and told me everything was working perfectly. They tested the battery, alternator, throttle body, electrical system, spark plugs and couldn't find a problem. So now I am worried to drive the thing in fear that it is going to get worse. Further info: the tranny was replaced about 30k miles ago and the top end of the motor was rebuilt about 20k miles ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Just to throw this out there, have you dropped the spare tire and took a look at your FPDM yet? I had a similar situation where mine would stall periodically when coming to a stop or slowing down for a turn and somehow was fixed when I replaced my battery. Not sure why the battery affected it but after replacing it, my pcm relearn process worked the first time when prior to that, the relearn process would always take about a week to stop intermittant stalling, but you said your battery has already been checked. I would start at the FPDM, they are known to corrode really bad.
Good Luck

Thanks for the heads up. I will check it out tomorrow and let you know what I come up with. I don't have a spare tire so I won't have to worry about that.

Good luck, they are easy to check, if you unbolt it and it falls apart, you have probably found your problem or at least one of them. The new ones have spacers that hold them off of the crossmember to prevent the different types of metal from corroding so bad.

Yeah sorry to say its probably not your FPDM. Mine was completely cracked almost in half, yours looks pretty good.

Did you clean the TB off the truck?

Here are a few helpful links, may be your fuel filter or the brake booster hose.

I took the TB off and cleaned it and also cleaned the MAF sensor. I was going to get a fuel filter and change that out today but the filter that is in there only has about 20k miles on it. I didn't know about the brake booster. I thought that was only for the 5.4. Thanks for the help.

Since you cleaned your TB, have you disconnected your battery? I had a very similar issue to yours and it got worse after cleaning the TB. I disconnected my battery for about 1 hour to let the computer completely reset, and then truck ran fine afterwards. Apparently the truck needs to relearn your TB angle once its cleaned.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Yes I did the relearn process after cleaning the throttle body.
