Another 5.4 spark plug issue
I finally decided to change the spark plugs in my (new style) 04 with the 5.4 3v. 6 came out okay with the Lisle tools, but I just cannot get the back one on the passenger side. I bought a new extractor and just cannot get it to bite. It seems like its pushed down into the head pretty far.
I also bought a diamond tipped drill bit and I'm using it with a flexible shaft to try to clear more of the ceramic out of the way. My Lisle pusher is at it's limit. The bit isn't helping though.
Are there any other techniques I could use to get this plug?
I'm starting to think crazy thoughts....like what if I turn the engine over briefly to try to knock the plug loose?
If pulling the head is all I can do, where can I find a guide that doesn't call for engine removal? I'm capable of doing it myself and have all the tools, but it's been a LONG time and I rather follow a guide than wing it.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure you remove all the debris you're milling with the drill bit from the combustion chamber.

A shop vac, with a small tube taped to it, works good for that.

Use a #10 triple-square bit to bite into the ground electrode.
