Default AMPG Drop during Idle?

I have an Edge Evo and it is showing the same thing the instrument cluster is. It showed me as getting 16-17 around town when I'm just cruising, but when I stop at a light or go idle anywhere IMPG is showing a 0 mpg reading and AMPG starts to drop, I think it is factoring the IMPG idle value into AMPG because it keeps going down (from 16-17 down to ~12 mpg).

Does everyone experience this?

Yup, I'm reading the average on both the Edge and on the gauge cluster.

I'm not sure why it shows zero when you stop but the average should go down as you sit and idle.

Didn't word that very well, corrected the original post.

Wouldn't this make the AMPG values on the gauge cluster and Edge pretty much useless then since they don't ignore the 0 mpg value when idling?

My Edge does the same thing to me. I wish that there was a way that you could make it stop recording IMPG when your just sitting there ideling.

How many miles per gallon do you think you are getting when you are stopped...

Obviously zero, but this number is being factored into the AMPG value, which means that the readings are pointless. Wanted to see if that was the case for everyone.

How are they pointless? You are burning gas and getting zero miles out of it. It is completely relevant to your AMPG. I think your statement is quite the opposite, if that burned gas was ignored your AMPG would be way off.

And yes, it is like that for everyone, because that is how you calculate MPG. If you did it manually by dividing your trip odometer by the gallons you burned you would be including the gas burned while at idle.
