AMI Billet Fuel Door
Hey everybody,
Recently my fuel door on my 04 fx4 reg cab f150 broke and now doesn't stay shut. In reading this forum i see it as a pretty regular problem so i'm not too worried about it. My question is if i get the AMI billet one does it use any of the existing hardware or is it all new? Basically i dont want to buy the billet one and then just have that one not shut because of my existing problem. I know i may sound like a noob but i haven't been able to find my answer.
Also if anyone knows of where a good write up or how to on installing one of these is that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I believe the door itself latches into the hinge and slides on and off. So I would assume you would have to get the hinge/filler assembly in addition to the billet door.

Why not just contact the vendor and ask them directly? Google them to get their web site; there should be contact info that allows you to call or email their customer support group.

From past experiences the billet doors all come with hinges already built in. Most of them latch with magnets anyway. It appears that the AMI doors are push to open. Which leads me to believe they're also closed by magnets. You're current door problem won't effect the new billet door.

unless it is just a cover. what breaks on ours is the spring/spring mounting points on the hinge that holds it in place, and you can only buy an assembly from the dealer.
