Default All New Lights

OK, got my wife an expensive necklace for Christmas (let her pick it out) and now she says get whatever you want I dont care. So I plan on replacing all my lights on the truck with LED's and going HID's on the headlights and fogs.

1. Do I go with 35w or 55w on the headlights and fogs? plan on using a 6K bulb.

2. What type of resistor should I use to prevent the problems with the blinker flash? Aluminum or Ceramic?

3. Any recommendations for a good set of lights to mount on the back of my truck to aid with backing up in the dark to hook up my boat? I know some say just get some fog lights, but just haven't found any that look decent.

was planning on going with www.superbrightleds.com for the bulbs just not sure where for the HID's opinions would be helpful.

thinking about getting a couple of these for the interior to help light the footwells in the truck. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PPP-20-727/

also thinking about buying 2 of these accent light strings to mount on either side underneath the bed rail. http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...bes.htm#Table2

Can you guys think of anything that I might need in addition to what I already plan on getting? besides the switches and wiring that I'm going to need to hook it all up.

Also, are there any places giving a good deal if you buy both the Headlights and Fog Light kits?

well I just ordered HID's for my headlights and foglights

I'm getting 55w bi-xenon 8000K headlights and 35w 6000k foglights, everything I read said that combo is about a perfect match in color.

For your HIDs I would check out DDMtuning.com I just purchased a a couple of sets for the GFs truck H13 Hi/Lo kit and 9005 for the fogs all 5000K they are super bright I went with 35W as well they are more then bright enough. The HIDs are on sale right now too awesome pricing. I have had a set in my Sierra for over a year and have not had any issues.

If you go with LED taillights, AND you have cruise control, make sure the manufacturer of the taillights has a load resister circuit installed within the taillight assembly, or your cruise control will not operate.

It is well known and has been discussed in the past on this forum that LED bulbs, and some LED taillight assemblies cause the cruise control to not operate. With out going into the details (again), LED bulbs (and LED taillight assemblies) have a low current draw; this is good, but the cruise control function used on the 2004 to 2008 "looks" for conventional bulb resistance (higher than LED) to activate/operate the cruise control, and therefore LED's in the rear taillight assemblies require a load resister. The cruise circuit sees the resistance across the bulb filiment to tell if he brakes are applied or not, thus allowing the cruise to engauge or disengauge.

Most manufacturers of LED taillight assemblies have this load resister circuit bult into them; the cheap units do not. Installing LED bulbs do not.

Searching on this topic will yeild you more information; but you'll have to work at it (meaning read through lots of posts).

Just trying to give you a heads up.

Are the hid's you guys bought from the tunning web site good ones? a hundred bucks for head and fogs sounds cheap. Have they lasted? what rangee did you get them in? 6000k or 8000k. Are they bright? Do you suggest 35 or 55 watt ?
Thanks,
