Default Alignment questions..

Ok. I am getting ready to level my truck and get new wheels and tires. I called the alignment shop to get a ballpark quote. $39.99 for the alignment. But,he said " Unless you have to buy those bolts" He then proceeded to tell me that they are $150. What was he talking about? I have had my truck aligned once before with no mention of any "bolts"
Is he jerking me around,or is there something to what he said?

Find a new shop, he's trying to screw you...there is no reason for anything like that, another shop trying to screw people

well hold on a second..... he may be right..... just how much are you trying to level your truck with? 2 " ? 2.5 " ? 3 " ? every truck that gets a leveling kit will respond a little differently. i know for a fact when i added my 2.5" autospring kit, the shop was not able to get it aligned correctly with the stock control arm bolts. i bought the aftermarket cam style bolts and they gave enough adjustment to get it back into spec.

in your previous alignment, your truck was still stock, therefore the stock bolt set up will work just fine. as soon as you modify your suspension your alignment will be affected. maybe not to a crucial point, but none the less, it will have an impact.

he's not....older F150's with torsion bars sometimes used diff cam bolts, find a new shop that ain't full of retards

then you went to a shop who didn't know what the hell they were doing, we did a 3" leveling kit, against my advice, and it aligned well within factory specs...

if you have the 05 that i see in your profile, you might need the camber kit. my 05 without a leveling kit is maxed out and the camber is still off, and if it is the 05 mine has coil over-shocks not torsion bars.

ALignments are cheap here. They have all the latest greatest computerized racks too. Hell, even the dealerships only charge $49. Only places more expensive are chain stores like NTB,or Discount Tire.

Cool! I always pay 96 bucks for mine to get aligned. Can't beat 39-49 dollars!
