Question Alignment?

Question for you guys....Just replaced the stock 275/55/20 Pirelli tires with some DuraTrac 305/55/20. Do you think I should get an alignment? Wasnt sure if the wider tires would throw it off and I sure dont want my tires wearing unevenly. Or should I wait for the Bilstein shocks to be installed to align my truck? BTW I have the Pirelli's for sale if anyone is interested around TN. Around 45-50% tred left all 4 for $120.

Wait...unless the old tires show signs of un-even wear...

I would wait until you replaced your shocks and then do an alignment. They are recommended, but not a must, anytime you upgrade from your factory tire to a new tire size. Firestone (if you have them around you) offer LifeTime Alignments. All you do is pay for 2 and then you can get an alignment once a month if you wanted to. I did this since I upgraded to 35x12.5 MT Baja's. I am always wrenching on my truck, and its nice to know that no matter what, I can get an alignment no money, no questions asked. Just my $.02. Feel free to return any change

I've heard that once you change tires you have to do an alignment. But I changed the stock 265/60/18 on my fx2 for terra grapplers 285/60/18 and the all wearin evenly but my steering wheel is kinda gettin crouqet so I need to get mine done.

as far as I know if you put new rubber on your wheel it doesn't change the way your wheel is mounted... however when I put a leveling kit on my truck an alignment was required

That's right, tire size doesn't affect alignment at all. They recommend alignments when you get new tires because most people go 30-70 thousand miles before tire changes. And in that time alot of wear on front end parts occurs, and plenty of potholes have been run over, and its crazy to put new tires on a vehicle that needs an alignment, and doesn't get one because the new tires will wear wrong.(quickly).

I do not have the leveling kit yet...Im going with the Bilstein leveling shocks for the best of both worlds, but they are back-ordered till the end of the month. The only pic I have is below, i'll post more once i cant get them up, weather has been really crappy around here. I love my tires so far they looks great on the stock rims. There has been a little loss of MPG but that was expected wiht the wider more aggressive tire. You wont be disapointed with them.
