airbag light???
2005 f150 xlt ........long story which I'll get to later but I do not see an srs light on the dash. is the airbag light the little logo ( chair with round bag ) ?
That light and goes on during start then off. would there be any codes showing if either bag has been deployed or either side not working? Light on passenger side lights and goes out weather your in the seat or not. Isn't it suppose to stay lit if no one is in the seat?
Thanks,,,,

Yes and the light would stay on if there was a malfuntion...which in turn would set a code. a CARFAX report would tell you if the airbags have been deployed prior to you owning it

Well I have run a car-fax report on the last 3 cars I have bought as well as title searches and all 3 came up squeaky clean . all 3, I found out later, have been it accidents. This last one takes the cake. My son , just turned 21 and in school to be a paramedic/firefighter, wanted a truck for his new career. We sold his car pretty quick on Craigs so we hit the pavement and looked at 11 trucks at Private, big box dealer and small dealers. He was set on finding an 04/05 4 door with under 100 k so not a whole lot of inventory out there right now. The big box were 3/5 k over his budget of 13 k and the Privates all had the 115/120 k on them. We finally found the 05 4 door with new tires, new windshield and new exhaust with 84 k on it. We went twice and looked at it and test drove it and was satisfied that it ran great. I brought my scanner and no codes stored. Unfortunately both times we went it was snowing like a bitch. Even though i crawled around it and looked at the frame for signs of damage I really didn't notice much except for some missing plastic and some other small BS * all of which the dealer told me reflected in this Great Price . Well he ( my son) was chomping at the bit so we went back and forth and settled on 12,700. About 3 k below kelly and Nada. Well now the fun, we get it home and finally had a chance this past sunny weekend to look it over and I start finding all these signs of body damage and **** not lining up right. I take it to a body shop today and the guy told me it had been in a major rollover and had a new roof, side fender , real quarter repaired and on and on. He said the work was extremely armature and they wouldn't even attempt to fix it because it was so F'd up!!!! I called these Bastards up and they basically told me ti F off that it was my problem now. ***** F'ers!!! Doesn't appear like there is much you can do unless they screwed with he airbag so I'm taking it to a dealer in a few days and have them look at it . SO I GUESS THE OLD SAYING RAGES ON "BUYER BEWARE OF ALL SCAMMING mf'ERS" THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!!! I could go on and on how Honest these guys seemed and how they were so happy for my son and here these bastards put him in a deathtrap!

In my truck, 05 which I've had since new, the drivers airbag (in the guages) and passenger light (above the radio) go on, and off while starting. The light is not on when no one is sitting in the passenger seat. The best way to test the passenger airbag is set something that weighs around 8 lb's on the seat. The passenger airbag light above the radio, should THEN go one. That would replicate a small child sitting in the passenger seat, and disable it. It should immediately turn off when removed.

8 pounds would be an infant... my wife weights 105lbs and does not turn off my light all the time..

So tech, is your light on or off all the time? My light only goes on when the airbag is disabled, for example if I was to have an infant in the front seat.
Nevermind, I re-read it. I forgot about your sense of humor.

Yes I ran my own carfax and it was clean,,,,,,they ' the used car business, have obviously found ways to beat the system to show "clean" reports. I will never believe in one again!,,,, as far as thr lemon law that only pertains to continuous attempts to fix a manufactorers defect. Which this fraud does not follow under. My only out would be airbag fraud or filing a civil suit which I am looking into.
I will test the airbag passenger seat and report..........all buyers beware!,,,,, I will never buy a used car again without spending the money to have it looked at both mechanically and body shop!,,,,
