I do not like the open element filter with the high under hood temps.
Also want to keep stock air box and paper elements.
Have heard some dealer stories about oiled elements screwing up sensor.
I remembered in my 89 Mustang Gt that the air box silencer was the biggest restriction and not the filter itself.

Purchased an Airaid intake tube a month ago. Replaced stock filter with K&N. Install was less then 10 min and have not had any problems yet. Does not produce the air rushing noise with a full CAI kit.

think of it this way:
its still colder air getting into the engine.
ask anyone on here if theyve had sensor problems from the intake. of course the dealer will say stuff like that.
and you have an '08 f150, not a 89 mustang. theyre 2 different vehicles set up completly different with different engines.

just something to think about

I put the Airaid intake tube on and changed out the stock filter with the K@N, very satisfied. Cant believe what a small whole the stock setup has when you pull it out of the fender. I also believe that with this setup the engine is not going to pull anymore air through it unless forced with a blower, and quieter than the CAI kit. my $.02
