Air Filter

Those of us who bash K&N look at the efficiency numbers. A stock filter is around 99% efficient for ISO testing, K&N as is seen below in their testing varies between 96-99% efficient. I've seen brand new filters and filters cleaned correctly leave a film of dust on the inside of the intake tube. The motor can get more than enough air with a stock filter and improve longevity. As I've explained elsewhere on here: it's great you're getting thousands of miles on a oiled filter before the motor gives, but wouldn't you like to have the possibility for few more thousand by just changing the air filter? My 2 cents

Our actual air filters when tested generally demonstrate a cumulative filtration efficiency of between 96% and 99%

Why have you cleaned the filter 6 times???? They can go well over 100K without cleaning. Do you live in the marshes? I suspect you have, as many others have, over-oiled the filter.

Why didn't you include the rest of what what was mentioned after the 96%-99% that you mentioned above? This is what the next sentence and the end of the paragraph went on to say....... "All this testing we do allows us to guarantee our air filters provide all the protection your vehicle will ever need." And yes, I do have a K&N CAI and have used them for a long time in some of my other vehicles as well. I have NOT had one problem with them whatsoever.

Either a SCT xcal3 with custom tunes or a Diablo sport with the canned CAI tune will be the cheapest. The SCT would be the preferred though because it is a true custom tune.

Pure garbage. A K&N filter will not damage the MAF, or anything else. All myths. I've used K&N filters for years in my vehicles and motorcycles. My H-D has over 135K on the same K&N filter!

I have never heard of a filter where you only have to clean it every 100k miles. That is pure BS. The whole purpose of buying a reusable filter is so you can wash it. I have run them in the past and would wash mine every 8-16k depending on conditions and time. I would usually notice MPG drop when it was time to wash it.

Because that is a generic guarantee, and the ISO testing does not warrant a guarantee in itself. I left the link up there for you to read and decide on your own, I was simply highlighting the efficiency point. For the same reason I didn't quote the paragraphs before that, it wasn't relevant to what I was explaining. The science behind it is simple, more silica particles entering the system via poorer filtration=more wear. This is the fact I was pointing out. I'm here to discuss facts, not opinions of companies trying to sell products or anecdotal opinions.
lol, yeah ok. So what you spout off on this forum is pure fact nothing less and nothing more, no personal feeling or experience, correct?
