Air bag light blinks 42
#2
There is a recall for the clock spring in the steering that deploys the air bag and I believe that a blinking abs light is a possible symptom that the harness is going bad. You may want to call the dealer ad have them check your vin to see if the recall has been performed on your truck.

Unfortunately, the clock spring has nothing to do with your air bag code 42. I'd be checking under the truck on the left hand side for wiring damage...

I had this code and it was my front crash sensor. It is located on the middle radiator support. I needed to have mine replaced because the connections were so bad. Set me back just under $300.

I started getting the 42 airbag code 2-3 days ago, I disconnected the front crash sensor and the connection looked fine, so I plugged it back in but I was still getting the code so I got online and found a replacement sensor for about $60. I decided before I ordered it to retake off my sensor and cut it open and see what the inside looked like. It was full of water not sure how it got in there, it's suposed to be sealed but I had just got a car wash and apparently water got in it. I took a hair dryer and heated it up to get all the moisture out plugged it in and now it works fine, but since I cut it open I'm going to have to replace it. Just thought I would share that since it looked fine at the connection but mine was actually internally bad, but at least I know what it is now instead of just replacing things that may or maynot be the problem.

I just installed aux lighting on the front of my truck and now I get the steady airbag light. Could it have something to do with where I grounded the aux lights?
