Default Aftermarket Radio Upgrade

My cd player in my '08 Lariat has stopped functioning, and says there's no cd when I try to access any of them.
So, I'm thinking that I need to replace everything.
The radio's height is 2 dins, and it does not have GPS, or phone--both of which I would like to add.
Is it possible to add these features with a new radio, and also to keep the steering wheel controls? What harnesses, jumpers, etc. should I get?
Advice on models?
I would like to hear from others who have accomplished this type of upgrade.

Thanks in advance!

I just put a pioneer in after the first junk Kenwood I had. I love the pioneer and all of what it does. You want the app radio. I have blue tooth DVDs and GPS all for $240. Pioneer avhx270bs

I have the Pioneer AVIC 8100NEX. For the most part I love it. Android Auto is still lacking, but should get better...One thing I do not like is the quality and fitment of the aftermarket double-din adapters. Just look cheesy to me. It's a shame that the aftermarket industry hasn't developed an entire radio bezel with a 'down-sized' double din hole, such as is available for the '09+. I purchased another (used) bezel to do this on my own. I've glued in the adapter and molded it to have the one piece look. Getting ready to hydro-dip it now.

Looks pretty fancy. Probably great. But I like ***** and old school buttons sometimes. I went with Kenwood DDX470 and I love it. Has everything I need. and it was very cheap on boxing day last year.

I just did something similar. I don't have the steering wheel controls but I know it is supported with the new aftermarket radios. Give Crutchfield a call. They are very good to work with and are knowledgeable about the install in your truck. They will supply you with all the necessary adapters and miscellaneous things you need for the install. You may be able to get the GPS radio cheaper somewhere else but you will really need the customer support when you do the install. If you don't have a backup camera, now is the time to add that also. Customer service is excellent. It seems they are available 24/7 even though they really aren't. I have called at 1130 p.m. and got through immediately. They really know their stuff.

Head over to the audio forum on this site; lots of great info for changing out a radio to an aftermarket one.

A price range would help limit it down. Anything Kenwood excelon series will be great but pricey depending on what you get
