I just bought my '08 FX4 a couple weeks ago. So far its been great. One problem though is with the drivers side heated seat. It just plain doesn't work. However, the passenger side works great. Now I'm not sure whether it is dealer installed or not. I know it's not factory because the switch is located by the power seat control on the side of the seat rather than the dash. It looks like the aftermarket kits with the toggle type switch that can go up for high and down for low. However it was a lease vehicle so I figured it had to be dealer installed.

Now I checked the obvious and it looks like under the seat everything is plugged in. Is there a fuse or something I should be looking for? I just don't know what to be looking for. Not sure if this would be a warranty item or not. If anybody has any experience with these kits and could help me troubleshoot I'd appreciate it!

If it isn't factory, pull the door sill off and u should see a couple wires coming out from under the carpet. One will be ground and other power, there should be a fuse, somewhere before the wire is attached to a power source. If that is not blown check the ground. If all of that is good it could be the switch itself or the heating element could have a burn in it and would have to be replaced

This was right on the money! I never would've looked under the door sill. Found the fuse holder with a blown 7.5A fuse in it. I will buy a new fuse tomorrow. Now my question is, should I up it to a 10 or 12A fuse. I found a couple installation instructions for a couple different aftermarket heated seat kits and one said the power source should be able to drive up to 10A of continuous current and one said 12A. I know nothing about electrical stuff and don't want to burn anything up. So should I go ahead and replace the fuses for both seats with either a 10A or 12A? The fuse holder says it can handle up to a 20A fuse. Looking forward to getting this working!

When I install aftermarket heated seats, I put a
10 amp in, 7.5 seems too low. I would throw a
10 amp in the other one also. Glad I could help u!
