Hello everyone. I will be deploying soon until well past the new year. While I'm gone, my wife will be driving the truck occasionally and I don't want her to have to worry about it at all, since it's the backup transportation for her and my two little men. What sorts of things should I do? The truck has 160xxx miles, is 4wd, and I bought it from a dealer with no service history.

You're welcome. It's getting rougher than it used to be. My oldest, the one in my profile picture, actually told me he didn't want me to go back to my submarine this time. Weird too, some dust fell in my eye when he said it.

With no service history, and such high miles, I was thinking timing. That being said I know nothing about overhead cam engines! When you say all the fluids, do you mean diffs too? What about plugs and COPs?

If it's running fine with no issues then leave it be.

least being on boomers is better than the fast attack's 18 month deployment rotation. I saw that coming down the pike and said good bye

OP, good luck. I have 25 years in the Army now and just got back just under a year ago. I am now finally living with my wife and kids after being gone for 7 years due to back to back deployments and PCSing to units that were deploying pretty quick after I got back to the states. Hang in there, do your preventive maintenance on the truck before you go and she will be fine.
